Personal Call Handler Promotional Pricing Available Now...

Cell Phone

Mobility has become a critical component of doing business in today's competitive environment. You're using a cell phone or smart phone in an effort to stay connected, but they leave gaps in connectivity. It can become a vicious circle with callers calling your office, then calling your cell phone and you end up with voice mail messages in the office plus on the cell phone and around and around we go.

Imagine having the power to choose how, when and from whom you wish to take calls whether you're in the office or out. Options include:

  • One Number Access or Find Me, Follow Me – The call rings multiple phones sequentially. The call rings your desk phone and if you don't answer, it follows you and rings another location like your cell phone or home office
  • Twinning or Concurrent Ring – The call rings your desk phone and your cell phone or another location simultaneously.
  • Immediate Voice Mail – The call is immediately routed to voice mail when you're not available. You can choose to accept calls from certain people and send all others to voice mail.
  • Alternate Ring – Your calls ring at a different location on a particular day or at a specified time.

Take Advantage of Tax Benefits Now or Never...

Cell Phone

The tax structure for business in the future is unsure. However, right now in 2008, there are exceptional tax benefits which make it a great time to acquire new equipment. Part of the tax benefits are due to the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 and part are other valuable tax provisions which are scheduled to expire this year. Be sure to check with your tax advisor to see how these tax regulations apply to your business, but the bottom line appears to be - take it now or never.

Section 179 allows an immediate deduction for tangible, depreciable property including telecommunications equipment, vehicles, machinery, etc. which otherwise would be depreciated over several years. In 2008, the allowable deduction has been increased up to $250,000. Qualifying investments have gone from $500,000 up to $800,000. This means that a business that buys and installs up to $800,000 worth of equipment this year can immediately deduct up to $250,000.

There is also a 50% Special Bonus Depreciation over and above any depreciation taken under Section 179. This means if you buy and install new equipment for your business this year, you get to deduct an additional 50% of the cost of the investment in 2008. Together, these provisions allow you to deduct the majority of the cost in just one year.

Sure, your old phone equipment still works, but it may be holding your company back in ways you don't even realize. The right technology can bring increased profits, lower costs, greater efficiency, exceptional customer service and improved employee morale. The right technology can take your business to the next level and 2008 may be the just the right time.

disaster

Here in the Midwest, being ready for a disaster means being prepared for unpredictable, sometimes destructive weather. And, there are also disasters you can't blame on Mother Nature.

For most companies, if the phones are down, you're out of business. Your customers down the street know when a disaster strikes, so they understand why they can't reach you. But customers across town or across the country assume you're out of business if you don't answer when they call. Taking steps now while you can think calmly, instead of trying to decide what to do during a major crisis, can help protect your telecommunications and your business.

Phone Facts...

New York Stock Exchange

The United States Investment Market was born in 1790 when our young federal government refinanced all federal and state Revolutionary War debt. $80 million in bonds were issued becoming the first major publicly traded securities. You might call it the first bailout by the federal government.

The New York Stock Exchange traces its beginning to 1792 when 24 brokers and merchants gathered on Wall Street to sign the Buttonwood Agreement stating they would trade securities on a commission basis.

In 1878, the first telephone was installed on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Because time has always been a key factor in the trading of securities, the immediacy of the telephone revolutionized Wall Street. Within a few years, many brokers had telephones linking their offices with the trading floor.

The basic effect of the telephone on the financial market was to increase the liquidity of securities, making it easier for businesses to raise capital and thereby facilitating the country's economic expansion.

J.P. Morgan once stated that his partner, George W. Perkins, could raise $20 million in 20 minutes just by making a series of phone calls. Morgan is credited with averting a financial panic in 1907 by wheeling and dealing on the telephone among banks in New York, Chicago and St. Louis.

So where is J.P. Morgan when we need him?
